Pages from History: Introduction

In these pages, Norah Carlin proposes to present some of the results of her research into the history of Holy Cross. These are intended as a preview of the full-length history which she hopes, with help, to produce, but they are also written especially for former pupils looking at this web site. Each set of “pages” will follow up a particular theme, the first being that of pupils who became teachers.

Though primary sources such as the Scottish Catholic Archives and a nearly complete file of the school magazine (1925-1967) have been consulted, the recollections of former pupils are also a most important primary source. Anyone reading these pages who would like to talk to Norah, especially if they have additional information or corrections to make to these pages, please send an email or letter through the Organiser.

(Accuracy may be a major issue, by the way, in relation to the magazines: in 1963, the FP Notes include errors in the spelling my own name and the title of my degree, the present Centenary Committee chairman’s surname and the college where he studied, and how many others…? NC)
